    Imbatranirea populatiei si cresterea rapida a costurilor de ingrijire a sanatatii au starnit mult interes pentru senzorii medicali purtabili. In mod traditional, dispozitivele de monitorizare in spital, cum ar fi monitoarele ECG si EEG, au fost folosite pentru a detecta si stoca date medicale brute, procesarea urmand sa fie efectuata ulterior pe o alta masina, de exemplu, un computer extern. Cateva tendinte in comunicare, procesare a semnalului, invatare automata si detectare biomedicala au convergit pentru a avansa monitorizarea continua a sanatatii dintr-o viziune indepartata pana in pragul realitatii. Principala tendinta este dezvoltarea de senzori medicali care pot fi conectati la Internet, care pot simti, colecta si chiar procesa noninvaziv diferite tipuri de date corelate, de exemplu, semnale electrice, termice si optice generate de corpul uman. Senzorii purtabili permit prevenirea proactiva si depistarea la distanta a problemelor de sanatate, deci cu potentialul de a reduce semnificativ costurile de ingrijire a sanatatii. Putem afirma ca utilizarea rezultatului proiectului va permite cresterea considerabila a calitatii vietii populatiei si prevenirea incidentelor in viitor.

    Sistemul inteligent de monitorizare a starii de sanatate in retea reprezintă un sistem de telemedicină prin care pacientul poate fi monitorizat acasa dintr-un centru aflat la distanta. Aceasta permite imbunatatirea timpului de raspuns al unitatilor medicale de urgenta pentru asistarea pacientilor precum si, acum in pandemie, pentru supravegherea pacientilor non-COVID acasa, deblocand astfel spitalele.A fost realizat un sistem ce foloseste componente de mici dimensiuni, usoare, care asigura portabilitatea, iar arhitectura sa versatila permite adaugarea si altor senzori fara a face modificari in sistem. Sistemul foloseste platforma BITalino si este compus din placa centrala BITalino Core si senzorii ECG BITalino, EEG BITalino si Pulsoximetrul.
   

    Interfata grafica a utilizatorului permite obtinerea si analiza in timp real a datelor achizitionate de senzori.
